Carlos Abadi Bio

Carlos Abadi is a famous investment banker based in New York City. He is the great-grandnephew of Moussa Abadi, a historical figure in the Second World War.

Abadi was born in July 1960 to Jose and Francoise Abadi in Argentina, where he attended top Buenos Aires schools. In 1977, he graduated from the Lycee Franco-Argentin Jean Marmoz and later on obtained an Industrial Engineering degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He then flew to Ithaca, New York to get his MBA from the Cornell University - Johnson School of Business.

He descends from a line of historical personages that include Moussa Abadi, who rescued many Jews during the Holocaust. Marcelo Abadi, Carlos’ uncle, is an accomplished writer, who penned the literary review Spinoza and Borges. Cousin Martin Abadi is a Stanford-educated computer scientist who authored A Theory of Objects.

As for Carlos Abadi, he has carved a niche in Wall Street. A consummate mathematician, he specializes in debt valuation methodologies as well as risk-reward evaluations. For two decades, he has dealt with governments, emerging markets, and privately held companies in volatile economies like Latin America. He has figured prominently in the restructuring of debt instruments since 1985.

Abadi is multilingual; he speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian. He is also fond of cycling, having competed in the 2005 Tour de France.

Carlos Abadi has a wife named Barbara. They have two children.
